Professor Aarti Iyer

Aarti Iyer was a Professor of Social Psychology at our University and is currently a Social Scientist at the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Aarti Iyer was a Professor of Social Psychology. She taught research methods and statistics in the Psychology Department鈥檚 undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses. Aarti also served as a member of the Department鈥檚 Management/Executive Group (2016-2021).

Aarti received her PhD in 2004 from the University of California, Santa Cruz, after which she worked as a Postdoctoral 91桃色 Associate at the University of Exeter for three years. In 2007, Aarti moved to Australia to pursue a continuing academic position at the University of Queensland. She joined the University of Sheffield as a Reader in 2016 and was promoted to Professor in 2021.

Aarti鈥檚 academic research here spanned two broad areas, focused on understanding the factors that influence: (1) individuals鈥� political attitudes and political behaviour and (2) immigrants鈥� successful transition to a new country.

She published more than 50 journal articles and book chapters with colleagues, with funding from the National Science Foundation (USA), the Australian 91桃色 Council, the Economic and Social 91桃色 Council (UK), and The British Academy.
